Our Scandi-inspired Summerhouse in the pretty village of Long Crendon is a little slice of Norwegian style in the Buckinghamshire countryside. Natural wood is a big feature in our kitchen and our handcrafted, rustic NORSK chopping and serving boards are not only functional, but they add texture and interest propped up on worktops. Continuing the theme, Danish brand Muubs are experts in hearty, rustic wooden kitchenware. Their pieces – including handmade teakwood bowls, plate drops and cutting boards – add a subtle warmth to a cool white scheme. House Doctor's beautiful wooden Berry Bowl is also a favourite.
Of course, fresh herbs and flowers always freshen up a space and give it life, and our large Broadwell Glass Vase sits pretty in the corner here, holding fresh eucalyptus and thistles. Talking of fresh, we love seasonal, locally-sourced food and these ingredients abound on the menu at our NORSK café in Haddenham. For a little culinary inspiration at home, you will often find us pouring over beautiful Scandi-themed coffee table cookbooks by the likes of Diana Henry, Kinfolk and Soho House.
Even something as basic as the humble tea towel can make a design statement in the kitchen and our cotton, waffle-knit tea towels with a chic grey trim are as useful as they are stylish. Meanwhile, Danish skincare brand Meraki is our go-to both for its natural ingredients and chic packaging, and this Linen Dew hand soap sitting next to the sink is a particular favourite.
As you know, we are all about great coffee here at NORSK and, to do it justice, a great looking cup is (almost) as important. We especially love our handmade porcelain slogan mugs from Nordic brand Sögne. This vintage storage cabinet in our kitchen is one of my favourite finds and its open shelving is the perfect place to house your mugs, alongside some stylish storage like this cute vintage-styled salt pot crafted in pressed glass.
We love the sociable element of eating together and sharing big bowls of food with friends. Our in-house NORSK branded ceramics, including this gently tapered serving bowl and dinner plates with their unique glaze, look as good on the shelf as they do on the dining table. Of course no dinner party is complete without the flickering glow of candlelight and we love the simple elegance of these antique brass coloured Anit candle stands on the windowsill here.
