The champagne corks have been popping here at NORSK as we celebrate winning the prize for Best Lifestyle Store in Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire in the Muddy Stilettos Awards 2022.
It feels great to say that we are “award-winning” and it’s testament to all the NORSK family and our fabulous, supportive community, that we have scooped this prestigious prize – as voted for by readers of Muddy Stilettos.
I launched our Lifestyle Store to sell and support the makers of authentically Scandinavian homewares and gifts that I would proudly have in my own home… in fact, in many cases, I do!
You will find stylish pieces from a broad range of Scandinavian producers and craftspeople in our store; from well-known brands such as House Doctor and Danish skincare company Meraki; to lesser-known independents, such as Swedish jewellery producers Cilan and Norwegian wooden home accessories brand Brüün. We are also the exclusive UK stockist of Sögne, the rustic homeware producer based in my home town of Kristiansand in southern Norway. We love their cute slogan mugs. Any excuse for a coffee, hey?
I am especially proud to design and sell our in-house NORSK range of products – including wooden kitchen boards, ceramics, leather hooks and greetings cards. Every piece is imbued with my beloved Norwegian aesthetic; minimalist, rustic and a triumph of both form and function.
And as NORSK is a family affair, we even stock hand-knitted traditional Norwegian woollen house socks and hard-wearing canvas kitchen aprons, made by none other than my clever, creative mum Torunn, aka Mamma.
So, to have been awarded this prize and to be in such esteemed company among the other local winners – including Foxglove Studio florists in Marlow, Darl-e and the Bear gallery in Woodstock, Django’s Smokehouse in Didcot and Soirée bar in Wallingford – is such a thrill.
